Keeping Cool With My Handcrafted Fan

Do you yearn to travel around the world? While many people prefer a homebody lifestyle, I certainly don’t! I’d love to see the world because I whole-heartedly admire exploring different cultures. Not just to take nice pictures for “the gram” but, to really learn and explore something interesting and new! I actually enjoy and appreciate the experience of being culture-shocked. I’m unable to travel the world at the moment, so for now, I’ve fallen in love with my new favorite Black Bali Glory handmade fan, all the way from Bali, Indonesia.

As summer approaches us in America, I was intrigued by a handmade fan sold though NOVICA for $27, that is sure to keep me cool in the heat. This ebony silk batik fan was created by a Balinese artisan, Melati. Melati’s Collection consists of traditional batik textiles that preserve and embrace Balinese culture. Not only does it keep traditions alive, the process of creating these unique products employs members of the community to feed families and spread global happiness.

As a woman in business, I also appreciate the Black Bali Glory fan, because it empowers women. In honor of Women’s History Month, it is encouraging to see women like Melati pursuing their goals to provide for their family. In many ways, we favor each other. We’re both wives, mothers, and I've modeled for a short time in college, so I admire her for continuing her career as a model. Melati has done a tremendous job with her collection. Maybe, one day I’ll have the chance to travel to Bali and learn even more about her culture!

Stay awesome,

Am
